has officially announced the highly anticipated return of the Relay Invitational Championships — the all-out, crowd-favourite event that made its explosive debut at the 2024 HYROX World Championships in Nice.

This year, 20 national teams will go head-to-head in what’s shaping up to be a showdown of elite performance and national pride. The top 15 nations from the 2024/2025 season standings will receive invitations, while five wildcard teams will be selected to join the fray. Each nation’s squad will be led by a national captain, chosen based on their athlete rankings and their influence within their country’s HYROX community.

Looking Back: A Legendary Debut in Nice

The Relay Invitational lit up the stage at the 2024 World Championships. Team England, led by Michael Sandbach and Kate Davey, took the win with a blistering time of 50:35. Close behind, Team USA, powered by three world champions — Lauren Weeks, Megan Jacoby, and the always-entertaining Hunter McIntyre — crossed the line at 50:55 after a fierce wall ball sprint finish. Team Germany rounded out the podium in 51:08, with standout performances from Linda Meier, Viola Oberländer, Tobias Lautwein, and Dominic Molzahn.

What Makes the Relay Format So Electrifying?

The Elite Relay is HYROX racing at its absolute peak. Each athlete completes two 1KM runs and two stations, spread across two separate sprints. It's raw intensity — the most explosive format in the sport — where pacing is replaced by full-throttle effort. Unlike traditional relays, this championship demands strategy: athletes must race in a pre-declared sequence, submitted before the event begins.
