British Obstacle Sports Launches Landmark Adaptive Athlete Challenge for 2025: "Who Can Complete the Most Kilometres in 365 Days?

British Obstacle Sports is thrilled to announce the launch of its 2025 Adaptive Athlete Limitless Challenge, an exciting new initiative designed to inspire adaptive athletes across the UK to push their limits, earn points, and compete for the title of 2025 Limitless Challenge Champion. The nationwide challenge invites adaptive athletes from across the UK to see who can complete the most OCR kilometres in 365 days, while championing a growing number of incredible athletes in our sport.

Challenge Overview

Beginning 1st January and ending 31st December 2025, the Limitless Challenge will follow a race series point system, rewarding athletes with one point per kilometre completed. With the opportunity to compete across various distances (minimum 3K), participants accumulate points that bring them closer to claiming the coveted title of Limitless Challenge Champion.

In keeping with our mission to ensure that everyone in the UK can enjoy the endless possibilities of obstacle sports, we will be running a unified classification system in the first year of the challenge, with all adaptive athletes able to compete.

Race Series Point System and Scoring

Points are awarded based on the official event distance, not an athlete’s tracked distance. Evidence of completion must be submitted via a form within 14 days of the event—or 24 hours for events in December. Athletes must also hold a British Obstacle Sports membership within 14 days of an event (or 24 hours in December) to claim points.

Deciding the Race Series Winners

The winners will be those with the highest points accrued across the year, with tie-break procedures in place to ensure fair ranking, should multiple athletes achieve the same distance.

Prizes and Recognition

The series culminates in the awarding of two trophies to the top male and female competitors, celebrating their achievements and dedication over the course of the year.

Adaptive Athlete Classification – Empowering Every Competitor

All athletes with a classifiable impairment as defined by the FISO classification system are invited to participate. Five sport classifications ensure fairness, ranging from PO1 athletes, who use wheelchairs, to PO5, designated for those with visual impairments. These classifications support each athlete’s unique journey through the challenge, reinforcing British Obstacle Sports’ commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.

Join Us in Celebrating Adaptive Athleticism in 2025

Whether racing in an OCR short course, classic distance, ultra, or multi-lap event, this challenge stands as a testament to the strength, resilience, and dedication of the UK’s adaptive athletes. British Obstacle Sports is honoured to support each participant’s journey and looks forward to seeing the kilometres add up across the country.
